In the eighties we developed special miniature signal cables to sensors for monitoring embryonic development of Japanese quail for the Institute of Animal Physiology SAV, at that time. Although, we considered the project very interesting and the Institute of Animal Physiology as a potential customer, we would have never thought of taking part in space research.
After dogs being sent to space, birds followed, whereby the first extensive research in this area was conducted with Japanese quail on station Mir within the Slovak experiment during the Mission Stefanik and voyage of astronaut Ivan Bella. Measuring devices with our cables was included in the mission.
